Shaunak Turaga is a vocalist, pianist, guitarist, and beatboxer for SAPAN. He started learning classical piano at the age of eight and Carnatic vocal from his mother at age five. In grade school, Shaunak also played trombone as part of concert, marching, and jazz bands in addition to singing as part of chamber, jazz, and a cappella ensembles. He continued his journey in voice at North Carolina State University where he served as Music Director of co-ed a cappella group Acappology and led the group through competitions. He was awarded a national recognition for his arrangement of "Latch" by Sam Smith by Best of College A Cappella 2017 and several awards for vocal percussion. Shaunak loves to explore the fusion of Indian and Western musical stylings through group and solo performance.
